Teaching

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

A skills based curriculum that prepares students for a career pathway into a particular industry. The demonstration and repeated application of competency is a feature of the satisfactory completion of units making up a training package at a Certificate I, II, III or IV level.

Here is an outline of the course I have recently specialised in from 2009-14 when I was based in Darwin with the NT school of Distance Education and travelled throughout the NT delivering this training to remote communities:Certificate II Creative Industries (Media) (PDF 422kb).

It is largely concerned with Digital Imaging, Sound Recording and Editing, Graphic Design and Film making as well as general skill development in teamwork, problem solving, career pathways and general literacy.

Here is a PowerPoint Presentation outlining the scope of this program.

Indigenous Communities

I have experience in developing and delivering the Certificate II Creative Industries (Media) training packages and Creative Arts to remote communities of the Northern Territory. This involved regular workshop visits and using distance education technologies to engage and provide consistancy of support to students.
